What the consultation actually covers

We start with your history: what you have had done, what you use at home, medications, and anything that affects how you heal. Then we look at your skin in good light, at rest and in movement, and note what you point to first. Concerns rarely arrive alone. Texture, tone, laxity and volume tend to overlap, and the order you treat them in changes the result more than most people expect. This is a cosmetic consultation rather than a skin check, so anything that needs a dermatologist gets referred.

What we are looking for

  • Skin tone, and where pigment has settled
  • Texture, pore size and general surface roughness
  • Redness, visible vessels and skin that reacts easily
  • Lines at rest and in movement
  • Volume and facial structure
  • Skin laxity and jawline definition
  • Sun damage, scarring and past treatment history

What happens during the visit, from start to finish

Your history

Before anyone looks closely at your skin, we ask questions. What you have tried, what irritated you, what you are taking, how you heal, and how much downtime your life allows this month. Most of the plan is decided here rather than at the mirror.

The assessment

Then we look, in good light, without makeup where possible. We describe what we see in plain words rather than clinical shorthand, and we ask you to point at what bothers you. What a provider notices first and what a patient notices first are often two different things.

The plan

You get an order of operations: what is worth doing first, what can wait, what would be a poor use of money for your particular skin, and what needs a different kind of provider entirely. It is written down, so you can think it over at home.

Your questions

Cost, downtime, how often something needs repeating, what happens if you stop, and what you can reasonably expect. Ask all of it. A plan you do not understand is a plan you will not keep, and the following through is where most of the result comes from.

What you leave with

  • A written plan in a sensible order
  • A clear idea of what each step costs
  • Realistic downtime for each treatment
  • A home routine that supports whatever you choose
  • An honest answer about what will not help
  • A referral out when that is right
  • Time to think it over
  • No obligation to book anything

How to book, and what to bring with you

Come with clean skin if you can, and bring the products you are using now, or photographs of the labels. If you have had injectable or laser treatment elsewhere, bring whatever you know about it. Dates and product names help more than you would think. Then bring your questions. There is time for them.
