How a collagen stimulator works
Radiesse behaves less like dermal filler and more like a scaffold. The gel carrier gives immediate volume, and over the following months the body absorbs it while the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres remain, giving cells something to build along. New collagen forms around those particles, and the particles themselves are eventually broken down into calcium and phosphate, which the body handles as it handles any other mineral. So the early result comes from the gel, and the later result comes from tissue you made yourself.

Two results, two timelines
Radiesse gives you something to see immediately, because the carrier gel occupies space the moment it is placed. That first result is honest but temporary. Over roughly the next two to three months the gel is absorbed.
What follows is slower. As the gel goes, new collagen builds around the remaining microspheres, so the area can keep improving after the initial fullness has settled. Many people are told to expect around a year, though this varies by area and by person.

Common questions
Is Radiesse permanent
No. Radiesse is a temporary treatment. The gel carrier is absorbed within a few months, the microspheres break down into calcium and phosphate over a longer window, and the collagen your body builds behaves like the rest of your collagen: it turns over. Most people are quoted around a year, and repeat treatment is normal.
How does Radiesse differ from the other fillers
Chemistry and behavior. Hyaluronic acid gels are water loving, they can be dissolved with an enzyme, and what you see on day one is broadly what the product is doing. Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite in a gel carrier, so part of the result is the product and part of it is collagen your body lays down afterward. It also cannot be dissolved, which puts more weight on getting the placement right.
Can Radiesse be used in lips
No. Radiesse is not used in the lips. The gel is firm, the lip is thin and constantly moving, and the product is associated with lumps in that tissue, so injectors use hyaluronic acid there instead. If lips are what you want, that is a different product and a different conversation, and we are happy to have it.
How long does it take to see the result
You see the immediate part on the day, because Radiesseplaces physical volume straight away. The slower half arrives over the following months as collagen builds, so the area at three months can look different from the area at three weeks. Photographs at intervals help more than memory does.
Does Radiesse hurt going in
It is a firmer product than most fillers, so people tend to feel more pressure. There is a version premixed with lidocaine, and topical numbing or a nerve block can be used as well. Hands in particular are usually comfortable once numbed. Say something if it is not.
