Rebuild collagen and elastin where it counts

Microneedling, sometimes called collagen induction therapy, uses a cluster of fine sterile needles to open thousands of tiny channels in the skin. Each one is small enough to close quickly, and together they signal the body to begin its ordinary repair sequence: fresh collagen laid down over the following weeks, then slowly remodeled into the sturdier kind that gives skin its structure. Because nothing is stripped from the surface, the treatment suits a wide range of skin tones and carries a lower pigment risk than many heat-based options.

Common concerns

  • Acne scarring and texture
  • Fine lines around the eyes and mouth
  • Visibly enlarged pores
  • Uneven tone and rough texture
  • Sun damage
  • Stretch marks
  • Dull, tired skin
  • Skin that has lost its firmness
  • Crepiness

Add-ons you can pair with a microneedling session

PRF (platelet-rich fibrin)

PRF is prepared from a small draw of your own blood, spun in a single pass without additives so the platelets and fibrin stay together. Applied during your session, it puts your own growth factors onto freshly opened channels. The studies pairing platelet preparations with microneedling are small, but they point in a consistent direction, particularly for acne scarring. Your provider will say whether it fits your goals.

Microneedling with CBD

A CBD topical can be laid down after your pass as part of a calming aftercare step. Research on CBD in skin care points to anti-inflammatory activity, though no trial has yet tested it specifically as a post-microneedling application.

Rejuran

Rejuran is a polynucleotide preparation derived from salmon DNA fragments, used in some practices alongside needling to support skin quality. It is an emerging option rather than a settled one, so we will walk you through what is and is not yet known about it.

Glow Experience

Our Glow Experience pairs a needling pass with a platelet preparation and a finishing serum. It is built for anyone who wants a single appointment to do the most it reasonably can ahead of an event or a change of season.

What happens during treatment

Your provider matches needle depth to what is being treated, staying shallower for fine lines and going deeper for established scarring. Topical numbing goes on first and sits for roughly half an hour, which is usually the longest part of the visit. The pass itself is brief. Afterward the skin looks flushed, much like a light sunburn, and that settles over a day or two while the repair work carries on underneath for months.

What you gain

  • Collagen and elastin you grow yourself
  • A day or two of recovery
  • Smoother texture, more even tone
  • Works on the face, neck and chest
  • Suits a wide range of skin tones
  • Pairs with platelet preparations when your goals warrant

Meso-needling plus Polynucleotide

Meso-needling works at a shallower depth than a full microneedling pass, and it is often chosen when the aim is surface quality rather than scar revision: hydration, tone, the fine crepey texture that tends to show up first around the eyes. Pairing it with a polynucleotide preparation is a newer approach that has moved quickly through aesthetic practice, with most of the published work to date coming from outside the United States and study sizes still small. We are glad to talk through what the evidence currently supports, what it does not, and whether it makes sense for your skin.

Microneedling FAQs

Does microneedling hurt?

Most people describe pressure and a light scratching rather than pain. Topical numbing goes on about half an hour beforehand, and your provider can adjust depth and speed as they work if any area feels sharp.

Is there anyone who should wait?

We hold off if there is an active infection or an inflamed breakout in the area, and we take a careful history where keloid scarring runs in the family. If you have taken isotretinoin recently, bring the dates to your consultation, because guidance on timing genuinely varies between providers.

What side effects are common?

Redness and mild swelling are expected. Some people flake lightly around day three. Anything beyond that is worth a phone call rather than a wait.

What do the first days look like?

Day one is flushed and warm. By day two the color has usually dropped back. Light flaking can arrive around day three and passes on its own. Leave makeup off for the first day, keep your routine plain, and start mineral sunscreen as soon as you are back outside.

How soon will I notice a change, and how long does it hold?

A brighter surface tends to show up inside the first couple of weeks. The changes people actually book for, texture and scar depth, build more slowly: generally clear a month or two in, and still developing for several months after your last session. How long that holds depends on your skin, your age and your sun habits.

How many sessions does a course take?

Three to five sessions spaced a few weeks apart is the usual shape of a course, with deeper scarring sometimes asking for more. Your provider will set the number after looking at your skin rather than before, and you can reassess as you go.

skin that ages well

Microneedling rewards patience more than it rewards intensity. A short course, properly spaced, with sunscreen worn in between, will do more for your skin than any single dramatic appointment. Our team will map out what that looks like for you at consultation, including whether microneedling is the right starting point at all, or whether something else deserves the first appointment.
